Planning my Bali adventure, I knew a halal private tour was the way to go. Starting my trip at The Apurva Kempinski Hotel in Nusa Dua was a treat. This 5-star luxury resort truly understands Muslim travelers, with Selasar Deli offering fantastic halal options for breakfast. It’s comforting to know that from the moment you wake up, your dietary needs are met with 100% certified food.
My tour guide, who also ensured all our food stops were fully halal-certified, picked me up for a day of cultural immersion. We headed first to Desa Tenganan in Karangasem. This ancient Bali Aga village is fascinating, and what made it even more comfortable for me was discovering it also has its own mosque. It’s a truly unique experience to see such traditional Balinese culture while still feeling completely at ease as a Muslim traveler. The dry season, from April to October, is definitely the best time to visit Bali. I chose to travel in May, which I discovered later is one of the cheapest months to fly, alongside June. July, I heard, can be quite expensive due to festivals, so I was glad I avoided that peak. Many halal tourists, I learned, come from nearby Jakarta, Malaysia, and Singapore, which makes perfect sense given the ease of access and increasing halal-friendly infrastructure.
Exploring Bali’s Halal Gems
Next on our itinerary was Gelgel village in Klungkung. This place holds a special significance as Bali’s first Muslim village. We visited the 200-year-old Nurul Huda Mosque, a truly humbling experience. It’s incredible to see such a long-standing Muslim community thriving in Bali. Our tour was meticulously planned, ensuring prayer times were accommodated and every meal was halal-certified. Later in the week, I also planned to visit other halal-friendly spots. Mount Batur in Bangli Regency, an active volcano, offers halal-friendly jeep tours, which sounded like an exciting way to see the sunrise without a strenuous trek. Tegenungan Waterfall in Gianyar is another must-see, providing nearby prayer facilities and family-friendly swimming areas. For a bit of wildlife, Bali Safari and Marine Park also has dedicated prayer rooms and halal restaurants, making it a great option for families. The emphasis on halal-certified food throughout the entire tour was a game-changer, allowing me to fully immerse myself in the beauty and culture of Bali without any worries.
